Membership FAQ - Compiled from our email responses.
Thanks for your interest.
Yes! We welcome new members.
Our membership is super cheap as we're trying to make the space as accessible as possible.
Opening Hours
We are actually hoping to dramatically increase our opening hours and hope to find members who can commit to be in charge of certain days/times. If you are interested in this that's wonderful. Otherwise don't worry we have our usual sessions Sunday, Monday, Tuesday 1-3pm and Wednesday 7pm-9pm. It's a $4 attendance fee.
Glazing Materials
We have a range of oxides, underglazes and glazes available free for members. We also sell discounted clay and basic beginners toolkits. We also have a storeroom for members clay, tools and equipment which you may use. Just bring a box, name it, date it and stow.
Expectations
Because we are so inexpensive there is an emphasis on communal etiquette. Our members help educate each other on correct use, to tidy and clean up etc - to respect equipment and each other. I think you will enjoy it. When I first joined I found the atmosphere of being able to ask everyone and receive so much help and guidance - and then to be trusted, and to pass the information forward in my turn - It definitely helped me become a better potter.
Workshops
As far as workshops go - that's coming in the future. We hope to start having regular workshops.
Thanks for your questions - if you have any others feel free to contact us any time.
